REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT AUSTRALIA MNC ASKED TO ‘PLEASE EXPLAIN’
Regional Development Australia Mid North Coast should not and must not support the National Party in public forums.
Regional Development Australia Mid North Coast (RDAMNC) on 8 September 2018 shared a video on Facebook from the NSW National Party aimed at recruiting people to their party and as candidates. (Source: Facebook )
This is totally out of order. Government initiatives must be apolitical in that they shouldn’t support any party or candidate. RDAMNC should understand its role as a government funded and administered initiative and act per the rules.
We require a full explanation from RDAMNC. How many times have they promoted the National Party on social media? How many times have they supported the National Party in publications? How many times have they helped the National Party in public domains? Did they receive any pressure from local, state or federal National Party members of parliament or party officials to share this post?
Regional Development Australia can play a valuable role in regional areas, appropriately administered. Supporting the National Party is not a part of its brief. RDA should be non-partisan and focus on promoting development in regional Australia and not the National Party.
Shadow Minister for Regional Services, Stephen Jones MP: “It is not the role of the RDA to post National Party election ads. It should be removed immediately. Labor demands an explanation why Govt funded agency is recruiting for the Nationals.” (Source: Twitter)
RDA “is funded by the Australian Government and by state, territory and local governments in some jurisdictions. It is administered by the Department of Infrastructure, Regional Development and Cities”. (Source: RDA)
